Do you have a soul mate workout?

Do you have a soul mate workout?... I do!

Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire are mine! They are both led by Chalene Johnson, who is so awesome! When working out to her DVD's she makes it feel like she's talking directly to you, like you are doing a class with her in real life, right in your own living room. She's energetic and motivating. Doing Turbo Jam or Fire makes me feel strong, like I can take on anything, yet makes me feel a little sexy at the same time.

The differences between the 2? Well, Turbo Fire is the newer version of Turbo Jam. Turbo Jam was my first Beachbody workout program purchase. Its so fun, the music gets you pumped, and you get in a good workout and sweat a ton and it doesn't even feel like you worked out. You feel like you just had an awesome dance party/kickboxing session in your living room. Turbo Fire kicks it up a few notches! The workouts are more intense, but they are still so fun you don't even realize how hard you are working! Both programs have a lot of the same moves, so it makes transitioning from one to the other pretty easy.

The reason they are my soul mate workouts is because they are so fun! I looked forward to seeing Chalene's face on my t.v. everyday. I knew that even on days I don't feel like working out I can pop in one of her DVD's and not even one minute into the workout I'm in my happy place! Seriously, folk!!...They are the best workouts ever!

I started with Turbo Jam several years ago and then bought Turbo Fire a couple of years later. I don't necessarily do these workouts on a regular basis anymore because I have found a few others that I like as well. Variety is a good thing, though! One thing I can say is that I always end up going back to them! I may get on an Insanity (another awesome workout!) kick for a few weeks and then I go back to Turbo Fire or Jam.
Chalene also has other programs. Piyo is her latest one. A mix of Pilates and Yoga, but you still get Chalene's awesomeness on that t.v. screen.

So, do you have a soul mate workout? One that you know you can always go back to and know that you are going to get a great workout and have fun at the same time? If not then I would like to help you find one. You can leave me a comment or click on the "Visit me at...My  facebook page"  below and message me. I'd love to help!

Do you have a workout buddy?

When I first started my journey to being healthy I pretty much did it alone. Sure I had the support of my husband, he would tell me I'm doing good and that he was proud of me. But I would go to the gym and see these groups of girls that did classes together, they would meet up, chat, laugh, and during classes I could hear them all talking and motivating each other....and I wanted that too! Sure I knew people, we would say "hi" and then say "see you next time" at the end of class. But that wasn't enough! I wanted someone to hang out with in the hall before class started, someone I could text afterward to talk about how brutal that class was....I just wanted someone to go thru the highs and lows with, that would cheer me on and I'd do the same for her, someone I could vent to, someone who felt the same things I felt. Was that too much to ask??!!

And then God gave me Jessica! Well kinda.... It's not like she just appeared or anything. We had actually known each other for a few years, we belonged to the same play group, we got along well, our kids played together. Just this last years and a half we have became super close. And then she became my workout buddy! And it was just like I had imagined! Kinda cheesy, I know, but we meet up before classes at the gym, we chat, and laugh, and motivate each other, we text each other about how brutal our workout was, and a couple of months ago we ran our first 5k together. And now we are BeachBody coaches together. She's more than just my workout buddy. Now she's my friend! This chic inspires me so much! I'd be lost without her!

So what I'm trying to say is...if you can, find a workout buddy! It makes getting through this journey so much more fun!

This super awesome chic also has her own blog. Click Here and check it out!

Looking back....

I absolutely hate looking through old pics! But sometimes it's a necessity. I was trying to find an old pic of myself so I could do a cute "before and after" collage...and oh, man did it bring back some feelings! I just can't believe how badly I had let myself go back then. And it makes me want to work even harder to never get back to that place! And the funny thing is I can't seem to find a pic of me even looking at the camera because I avoided having pictures taken of me like the plague! I found a few side shots that would work (and I will post it below).

Here are a few of the things I thought while looking at pictures
1. Holy, cow! Even my nose was fat!
2. I didn't have a double chin, I had a triple chin!
3. I don't ever want to be back in a size 16/18 EVER AGAIN!

I'm trying to be light hearted about this, but when I look back those feeling of how unhappy and disappointed in myself I was come flooding back! My husband is my rock and he not once ever made a comment about my weight but I know he had to be thinking "what happened to the girl I started dating in high school?". I was in a size 16/18 and even when I wasnt pregnant I would still wear maternity clothes cause they fit around my gut better. I could easily eat twice as much as my husband would eat at a meal and exercise was the last thing on my mind. We ate Hamburger Helper for dinner on a regular basis and we were on a first name basis with the employees at our local Pizza Hut. I hated going places or having to get dressed in anything other than sweat pants and my husbands worn tshirts. I was pathetic and felt sorry for myself daily.

I am now happy to say I feel none of that! I'm down almost 50 lbs. My  husband makes me feel like I'm the most beautiful lady on this planet! I enjoy getting dressed up and going places, and my food portions are what they should be and I enjoy cooking healthy, balanced meals. We still enjoy Pizza Hut, but now I only eat 1-2 slices with a salad instead of half a large and we order it once every few weeks instead of every Friday night. And I burned all of my maternity clothes...Not really, I donated them to The Goodwill, but in my mind I burned them and they were gone forever!

So my point of this post is if I can do it, ANYONE can do it! And I'd like to help you along the way! All you gotta do is ask!

New to this blogging thing.

Yep, I'm a newbie! I've never wrote a blog in my life, can you tell yet?

I'll start off with the story of ME! I'm a wife and a mom to 3 amazing kiddos. I once was overweight and now I'm not. I don't have a deep story about why or how I gained weight, it just happened. Then one day I decided I was tired of being tired and I didn't want to feel fat anymore so I decided to do something about it. I cleaned up my eating (goodbye McDonalds!), started working out (More on the workouts I love later), and over 3 years have managed to lose close to 50 pounds! I have my ups and downs, lost some weight, then put some back on, lose some more, then gain some more, etc. I have finally hit the point of being done with the ups and downs! I will share with you my workouts, what I eat, what I'm feeling, and I hope to encourage and inspire you to hop on the "Healthy bandwagon".

I'm not perfect and I'm not a super-duper-in-shape-body-builder. I'm a mom who just wants to feel comfortable in a bathing suit at the pool (and maybe make my husband do a double take when I'm wearing tight jeans! lol). Stay tuned cause I will have a lot more to share with you!
